“Public schools are the beating heart of the communities they serve”

Turning Possibility into Opportunity

The Challenge

Imagine a 13-year-old learner in a crowded public-school classroom.

She has been told that success is measured by a matric certificate, a place at university and a degree. But she also knows that, for many families, university is simply not an option, and has seen too many young people leave school only to face years of unemployment even with a university degree.

For many learners, the future feels uncertain long before they reach matric and is often a reason they leave the classroom.

A Better Path

Now imagine that same learner gaining practical, nationally recognised vocational qualifications and practical experience while still at school.

Qualifications that develop real workplace skills, reflect the needs of local industry, their community, and create genuine pathways to employment, entrepreneurship and further learning.

Education becomes more than preparing for exams – it becomes preparation for life.

Turning Vision into Reality

This is the vision behind the vocational campus being developed at Groutville High School in collaboration with Lodestone EdSupport NPC

It is the first step in a scalable public-school collaboration model that connects education, industry and community to create brighter futures for young South Africans.
